Discover a Relationship with God
So many today are searching for answers to lifes questions and they do not realize the answer they seek is not found in a religion nor in man’s reasoning. The answer you seek can only be found in a relationship with the God who created you.
The answer to “why am I here” and “where will I go when I die” can be answered from the truth found in God’s word. The Bible tells us in I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” The simple truth is God wants you to know why you are here and where you're going! So let me share some of the truth found in God’s word……
First we must realize who we are! Few will deny that every man has committed a sinful act in their life. Just a quick glance at the 10 commandments will reveal that each of us at one point has broken “thou shalt not bear false witness”. Have you ever told a lie….even one you would consider a little white lie? The Bible tells us that all have committed a sinful act in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Because each of us has within us the nature of sin and the nature to sin, we are therefore sinful. The Bible says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life thru Jesus Christ our Lord." The “wage” or payment for our sin is spiritual death, and eternal separation from God. We must realize we are sinners and in need of saving! But how or by whom?
Second we must realize what we can’t do! Men through the years have tried to devise a way to reason their way into an eternal existence. Men have tried to establish organized religions that will support their teachings and thus promote their theory. But the Bible teaches in Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Every man will fall short of God’s glory and therefore never into his glory on his own merit nor in his own effort. So if we can’t save ourselves then who can save us?
Third we must realize who Jesus Christ is! Many want to give their opinion of who Jesus Christ is, but what does the Bible say? The end of the verse from Romans 6:23 says “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Jesus Christ is the only begotten, sinless, virgin born Son of God. The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever, believeth in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” God sent his Son to pay what we owed and could not pay on the cross of Calvary. Because of God’s gracious gift we don’t have to pay for our sins ourselves. By grace salvation is provided. In Romans 5:8, the Bible says, “But God commendeth [meaning proved or demonstrated] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Lastly, we must realize what we need to do! In order to have a relationship with God we must stop trusting in man’s reasoning and in religion. We must realize that only a real faith in what Jesus Christ did on Calvary is sufficient for our salvation and will allow us the awesome opportunity to have a relationship with the God of this universe. Now that you realize who you are, what you can’t do, and who Jesus Christ is….there is only one thing left to do! Roman 10:13 Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you are seeking a sincere relationship with God you can make that decision today by praying from your heart, something like this:
Dear God, I know that I am separated from you because of sin. I confess that in my sin, I cannot save myself. Right now, I turn to you alone to be my Saviour. I ask you to save me from the penalty of my sin, and I trust you to provide eternal life to me.
